This reclaimed Douglas Fir ring was an antique before I made it. Rescued from a renovation of the historic Normandie Hotel in Los Angeles, CA, this 100 year old Douglas Fir has rich oranges, browns and reds, but the dark striation you see in this design are actually iron staining from old nails. These colors would typically not appear in this proximity to each other in an item as small as a ring, but my unique Spiral Grain technique pulls them closer together and showcases the contrasting colors. My shipment was international and I had some trouble in my country which I needed some additional assistance from Tyler and he was so happy to help.
